dedfox Tries Soapmaking

02-09-16

You know the saying "Jack of all trades, master of none" ? That seems to be my life right now. Any given day of the week I will try writing, storyboarding, sculpting, baking, cooking, painting, drawing, poetry, singing, helping my roommate with cosplays, or other various little homemade crafting.

The one Ive picked up most recently is SOAPMAKING! Its not something I ever thought I would be interested in, but its definitely one of the more satisfying hobbies Ive picked up.

Its also probably the most expensive hobby Ive picked up since I decided to go to art school. There was a lot of first time purchases that needed to be made: scales, measuring glasses, burners, mixers, chemicals, oils, safety gear, mixing pots, molds, temperature gauges, ETC.

But Ive jumped RIGHT IN. With the help of youtube tutorials and some generous christmas giftcards, and a little instruction from a relative who is already a chemist.

So without further adieu, I give you, my first handmade soaps--- Which went so fantastically smoothly and ended up so close to how I imagined them that Ive decided to put them on etsy for sale.

These are just the first. Thunderstones had a simple design that I found easy to replicate after learning a few different forms of soapmaking. But with the success of those I definitely plan on tackling the more complicated designs in the future and one day creating whole Evolution stone sets of soap. Next up will be firestones.
